Sluts With Consoles

30 May @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

£9 – £12

Is that a joy-con in your pocket, or are you pleased to see us? Armed with plasmids, meelee weapons, and enough energy drinks to kill a small dog, Player One and Player Two are on a mission to uncover the truth about women in the gaming industry.

Inspired by real testimonies from women working within the gaming industry, Sluts With Consoles is an anarchic, high energy, dark comedy created to heal the edgy teenage ‘not-like-other-girls’ girl inside us all.

When your world is falling apart and nothing makes sense, who wouldn’t want to retreat into a fantasy world where you’re the hero? Part love-letter to the games we grew up with, and part coming of age temper tantrum, Sluts With Consoles is an exploration of girlhood, escapism, and the need for control amid chaos… however, with gamergate, gatekeeping and growing up to contend with, maybe being in control isn’t as much fun as it’s cracked up to be…

This is a show about video games, the women who love them, and the community we wish would love us back.

Dogmouth is a grassroots theatre company led by Alice Flynn. They are based in Reading and specialise in LGBTQ+ and female led stories, seeking to exorcise feminine rage through art. Heavily inspired by the riot grrrl movement, Dogmouth have created a small cult following for their punchy attitude and dark sense of humour underlying their work. They have previously produced work for King’s Head Theatre, VAULT Festival, and National Student Drama Festival.
