Stomping Ground Comedy with Eshaan Akbar

In collaboration with Municipal Comedy, LIVE at The Grounds brings you Stomping Ground Comedy. Located right in the heart of Hove, we’ll be tickling your funny bone with an incredible lineup every month. We’re mixing it up by bringing both fresh, new local acts and established, national comedians to our bill.

We will be serving Pizzaface Pizzas before 8PM and in the interval.

Doors 7pm | Show 8pm

Please note, no entry will be permitted after 8PM. No food and drink from outside the venue may be brought in.

Headliner: Eshaan Akbar

Eshaan has appeared on shows such as Mock the Week, QI (becoming the first person of Bangladeshi heritage to appear on these shows), Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, The Big Asian Stand Up Night, Sunday Morning Live, Good Morning Britain, and many more. You may also have heard him as the voices of Rishi Sunak, Sajid Javid, Narendra Modi and some others on Spitting Image.

Eshaan is a sought-after podcast guest and host. He is the host of the ‘But Where Are You Really From’ podcast on BBC Sounds, ‘Panic Room’ on Audible, and the European award winning business podcast ‘Nine Twenty Nine’.

He has performed three sell out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe – ‘Not for Prophet’ (2017), ‘Prophet Like it’s Hot’ (2018), and ‘Infidel-ity’ (2019) as well as sell out London transfers at the Soho Theatre.

Eshaan has opened for Micky Flangan, and has supported the likes of Jason Manford, Adam Rowe, Dan Nightingale, Kae Kurd, Tez Ilyas, Dane Baptiste, Hal Cruttenden, Jan Ravens and Rory Bremner on tour.

Karen Hobbs

Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year 2021 Finalist, One of Glamour’s 7 Funniest Women at the Fringe 2019 and Funny Women’s 2020 ‘One to Watch’. Karen’s stand-up style is described by critics as “uncomfortably excellent’’ (Chortle) and “heartfelt comedy at its best” (Three Weeks).

Dinesh Nathan

Dinesh Nathan has been making waves on the South East Comedy scene, winning South Coast Comedian Of The Year in 2019. A very likeable and promising act. He is a Leicester Mercury Finalist 2020/ Komedia New Act 2020 (1st Runner Up)/ Winner South Coast Comedian OTY 2019 / Won Spinnaker & Black Out Gong Shows (2018/19)

Annabel Edmonds

Annabel Edmonds is an up-and-coming stand-up comedian based in London. She performed at the Camden Fringe 2021 as part of Dec’s Angels 2. Viggo Venn, Time Out Edinburgh Award Winner, ‘I would die for this group of comics.’ Dec Munro, Angel Comedy, ‘Some of the best new stand ups I have seen in a very long time.
