Please note, no entry will be permitted after 8PM. No food and drink from outside the venue may be brought in.
April Line up:
MC: Simon Dooley
Headliner: Laura Lexx
Laura Lexx is a star on the rise, one of those rare comics to reach the top of the live comedy club circuit and then expertly make the jump across to polished Edinburgh Festival shows and fantastic television appearances.
Having picked up a host of awards and nominations for her circuit work, including winning the Comics Comic Best MC Award 2017, Comedians Choice Awards in 2018 and 2019 , and Chortle Best Compere nominations every year since 2016 she has transformed her mercurial ability with an audience into very sharp hour long performances. Tyrannosaurus Lexx and Trying have both been nominated for the Amused Moose Best Comedy Show Award
Pravanya Pillay
Pravanya Pillay is a stand up comedian, writer and producer. Described by Funny Women as “hilarious” Pravanya delivers surreal, observational comedy from a unique perspective.
As a writer she has written for BBC Radio Wales on the sitcom ‘Beena & Amrit’ and the sketch show ‘Welcome Strangers’.
She is the co-host and producer of Party – a trans/non-binary/female comedy night described by LMAOnaise as “the country’s finest night” and featured in The Guardian.
This summer Pravanya came joint-third in the prestigious ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ competition.
Omar Badawy
SO YOU THINK YOU’RE FUNNY WINNER 2021
CHORTLE BEST NEWCOMER NOMINEE 2022
CHORTLE STUDENT COMEDY AWARD FINALIST 2021
Originally from Egypt, Omar started stand up in 2019 and, in his first year (+global pandemic), went on to win the prestigious ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ award at the Edinburgh Fringe. He talks about his encounters with strange school friends, football fans and EDL-badge-wearing bouncers, providing unique insight from a childhood moving from Egypt to Wales to Cambridge.
“Omar Badawy […] is already a consummate pro. He discusses the Muslim stereotypes he had to deal with on moving from Egypt to Wales with originality and dry wit. The slick routine boasts distinctive jokes and is delivered with a winning poise and calmness.” – Steve Bennett, Chortle.
Alex Mason
Alex is a new young Stand-up comedian. She was in the final of the Chortle Student Comedy Competition and was reviewed as a ‘throughly engaging’ comedian.
