Sussex Poetry Festival

Headlining the event this year is celebrated poet, playwright and author Jackie Kay. Known for her numerous works including Other Lovers, Trumpet and Red Dust Road, the former Scots Makar (national poet laurete of Scotland) was appointed as a CBE in 2020 for her services to literature.

Support comes from the award-winning poet and children’s author John Agard and also from poet Grace Nichols. Elsewhere on the bill, the Hammer & Tongue slammers battle it out in verse with the audience wielding the decisive scores), plus the winner of this year’s Sussex Poetry Competition will be crowned.
