WALKING TOUR – A Spring Saunter – Clayton Village , Jill Windmill and a Pub

10 May @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

£8

THIS IS A ” PROPER” WALK including up a hill and down again and you need to bring walking shoes , water and a packed lunch

Clayton is right on the doorstep of Brighton and has some secrets to share .  Join tour guide Nick Richmond on a walk from Hassocks to Clayton ( 1 mile ) through Butchers Wood .

In the village we will see the Clayton Tunnel , designed in 1841 and hear the story of the disaster that happened there in 1846 when two trains collided head on .

We will also visit the church of St John The Baptist which houses medieval “doom” murals from the 12th Century .

After a drink at The Jack and Jill pub we will go up to the Jill windmill itself ( half a mile uphill ) which will have been recently repainted ( Jack is privately owned ) , and hear about it’s history and the windmills place in Sussex agriculture .

This will be a dog friendly walk for those that are up for walking longer distances than my usual tours.

We will meet at Hassocks train station front entrance ( lots of parking there too ) and come back to the same place at the end As always my tours are only £8 each and children go free . You can pay on the day by cash or card . Look forward to seeing you there
