SUMMARY:Vivaldi The Four Seasons with the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague in Hove
DESCRIPTION:The Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague brings Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons to All Saints Church\, Hove on Saturday 17 October 2026 at 7.30pm\, as part of the orchestra’s autumn 2026 tour of the United Kingdom. The concert is performed live by a chamber ensemble of the Prague-based orchestra\, with the young Czech violinist Matteo Hager as soloist. \nAll Saints Church on The Drive is Hove’s cathedral-scale parish church\, a soaring Gothic Revival building by John Loughborough Pearson with a resonant acoustic that has made it one of the best-loved concert venues in Brighton and Hove. It is a few minutes’ walk from Hove station and the seafront\, with buses along Church Road and Cromwell Road. \nThe programme\nAt the heart of the evening are Vivaldi’s four violin concertos – Spring\, Summer\, Autumn and Winter – the most popular set of pieces in the whole Baroque repertoire. Written in Venice around 1720 and published with four sonnets describing birdsong\, summer storms\, harvest celebrations and icy winter winds\, The Four Seasons remains one of the most vivid pieces of storytelling ever composed for strings. Hearing it played live\, with the soloist and ensemble responding to one another in the room\, is a very different experience from any recording. \nThe Four Seasons is framed by four other favourites of the string repertoire. Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik is the most famous serenade ever written\, all charm and sunlight. Bach’s Air on the G String\, from his Third Orchestral Suite\, is one of the calmest and most beautiful melodies in music. Pachelbel’s Canon in D needs no introduction\, and Handel’s Water Music\, written for a royal barge party on the Thames in 1717\, brings the evening to a festive close. \n\nAntonio Vivaldi – The Four Seasons\, Op. 8 Nos. 1–4\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Eine kleine Nachtmusik\, K. 525\nJohann Sebastian Bach – Air on the G String (Orchestral Suite No. 3)\nJohann Pachelbel – Canon in D\nGeorge Frideric Handel – Water Music (suite)\n\nThe performers\nThe Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague (BSOP) is a professional orchestra from the Czech capital\, one of Europe’s great musical cities and home to a string tradition that runs from Dvořák and Smetana to the present day. Alongside its full symphonic concerts\, the orchestra tours internationally with chamber programmes drawn from its principal players\, bringing the warmth of the Czech string sound to churches\, cathedrals and concert halls across Europe. This UK tour visits Reading\, London\, Hove\, Eastbourne\, Newcastle\, Edinburgh\, Inverness and Glasgow. \nSoloist Matteo Hager is a young Czech violinist currently studying in London\, whose performances of The Four Seasons combine virtuoso brilliance in the fast movements with a singing\, expressive tone in the slow ones. \nTickets and practical information\nDate and time: Saturday 17 October 2026\, 7.30pm – 9.00pm (doors open 30 minutes before the concert)\nVenue: All Saints Church\, Hove\, The Drive\, Hove BN3 3QE\nTickets: from £24 (plus booking fee); priced seating tiers available\nRunning time: approximately 90 minutes including interval \nBook tickets online or telephone 07922 228511. SUMMARY:Award-winning comedian Ian Stone brings new show to Brighton
DESCRIPTION:Due to overwhelming demand\, Spirit of Fringe Award-winner Ian Stone has extended his UK tour\, with new shows announced — including Brighton\, where he’ll perform at The Forge Comedy Club on the 3rd December 2026. \n‘Looking for the Wow’ follows Ian on his hilarious quest to uncover life’s missing magic and is already delighting audiences in over 40 towns and cities across the UK. Originally scheduled to finish in June 2026\, the tour will now continue through to December 2026. \n‘I love that people are coming to see the show\, so I thought why not do more of them? There has to be more to life than the humdrum and the routine before the inevitable slide into disease\, decay\, and death. Why can’t we sneak in a hint of awesome\, a tad of amazing\, and maybe a smidge of wonderful? Where you get it is your business. A forest canopy opening onto a huge vista would be enchanting for some but my ancestors wandered in the desert for forty years — I think we’ve been outdoors enough. Others get their fix from the spiritual\, but I’ve been harbouring a grudge against God since my mother stopped me going to Arsenal after my Barmitzvah — forty-nine years ago. ‘God will be watching\,’ she said. Well\, at least He got to see the game. The point is\, life could be so much better — so I’m on the lookout. Come and join me on the hunt.” \nIan Stone is a hugely experienced broadcaster\, podcaster\, and writer\, as well as a brilliantly funny comedian. He performs at major comedy festivals and venues globally. His popular posts and reels on social media have quickly earned him a following of over 90K across BlueSky\, Instagram\, TikTok\, and Facebook\, amassing millions of views. \nIn the last four years\, Ian has performed his one-man shows at the Edinburgh Festival to packed rooms and great reviews. In 2023\, he won the prestigious Spirit of the Fringe Award. He took his last show on tour across the UK\, finishing with a sold-out performance at London’s Comedy Store. He also had a sold out run at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and he’s going back later this year. \nAside from stand-up comedy\, Ian currently presents a very popular (50k downloads per episode)\, twice-weekly Arsenal podcast\, Handbrake Off\, for The Athletic. A live version of the podcast recently sold out Leicester Square Theatre in London. Ian is also a regular contributor on Times Radio. His book\, To Be Someone\, was published in 2020 and has received nearly 500 four- and five-star reviews on Amazon. \nWhether on stage\, behind the mic\, or in print\, Ian Stone is the voice of sharp humour\, biting insight\, and perfectly crafted comedy. \nFor tickets visit:https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ian-stone-looking-for-the-wow-extra-show-tickets-1982765100791?aff=ACT

SUMMARY:A Christmas Carol - A One-Man Performance
DESCRIPTION:A bare stage. A single performer. And suddenly\, Victorian London flickers into life. \nThis Christmas\, the magnificent All Saint’s Church in Hove presents A Christmas Carol in its purest and most powerful form\, performed as Charles Dickens originally intended. Drawn directly from Dickens’ own reading script\, this acclaimed one-man production by Mat Jones brings the author’s unaltered words vividly to life. \nThrough voice alone\, whole worlds unfold. Scrooge’s frost-laced counting house. Fezziwig’s glittering Christmas ball. The tender warmth of the Cratchit family hearth. And the chilling\, transformative visits of the spirits. There is no adaptation. No modern retelling. No embellishment. Only Dickens’ timeless storytelling\, as it captivated audiences over 180 years ago. Mat Jones brings his celebrated solo performance of this beloved festive classic to life in this breathtaking and historic space\, inviting you to step into the magic\, atmosphere and wonder of Christmas past. \n“You do not need spectacle to be spellbound. You just need a storyteller this good.”\nYupVoted \n“Bravura performance…a perfect antidote to the excesses of the season.”\nReviewsHub \n“Meticulous\, measured\, authentic.”\nCharlesHutchPress
