Head up to the Downs for a walk and a picnic this Saturday, courtesy of Brighton & Hove Buses and Brighton & Hove City Council.
It’s World Car Free Day on Wednesday 22 September and to celebrate passengers can travel free on the bus company’s Breeze Up The Downs routes 77, 78 and 79 on Saturday 18 September.
The offer is being run in partnership with the council, which is running a week-long celebration of events, activities and giveaways for Car Free Day, asking residents and visitors to think about how they travel to, from and around Brighton & Hove and promoting the importance of active and inclusive travel.
Breeze Up the Downs buses run every weekend and on public holidays from the city centre to Devil’s Dyke, Stanmer Park and Ditchling Beacon – the highest point in East Sussex – with panoramic views over some of the most beautiful parts of the Sussex countryside.
When you get on, you’ll notice the Breeze buses have a striking new livery which is dedicated to the Sussex countryside and coast and to its plants and wildlife. For details of all of the stops you can visit, and all about Breeze Up the Downs buses, including timetables click here.
Brighton & Hove Buses Managing Director Martin Harris said: “Going up to the Downs and out into the countryside is a great thing to do and it’s so quick and easy by bus from the city. Our Breeze buses mean you don’t need a car to get to some of Sussex’s best beauty spots. It is also the kindest way to travel for the environment every day, not just on Car Free Day.”
