Mechanical Memories Museum
A 15-minute schlep east of Brighton Pier, and a discreet distance from the naturist beach, brings you to Yellowave - the UK’s first permanent beach sports venue and a designated pre-games training arena for the Volleyball Olympics. Not that you need any volleyball expertise. Come here for taster sessions, or beach soccer and tag rugby on Yellowave’s four white-sand pitches.
Situated on Brighton's seafront, the Mechanical Memories Museum is a working penny arcade museum with an interesting and wide variety of penny slot machines dating from the early 1900s to the 1960s.
Many thousands of visitors each year can enjoy the thrill of seaside fun from yesteryear with the various vintage coin-operated amusement machines (original penny coins are available to use).
Machines include Punch & Judy, What the Butler Saw, the Laughing Sailor, puppet machines, skill games, fortune tellers, the very popular 'allwins' and many, many more.
The Mechanical Memories Museum is great fun for people of all ages. For older visitors it offers a wonderful nostalgic trip to the summer holidays of times past, and for younger ones an amazing insight into how things used to be.
