This Bank Holiday Sunday, 3rd May, is the 63rd year that 130 old commercial vehicles of all shapes and sizes struggle from London to Brighton to celebrate Britain’s transport heritage.

Pretty much anything that isn’t a car, from buses to artics, from vans to old fire engines, even steam powered lorries, ranging in age from 30 years to 100 years old.  Some diesel, some petrol, a few coal fired, but no electric ones this year (the batteries didn’t go so far in yesteryear).

Starting at Clapham Common very early in the morning, all the vehicles (that survive the journey) will be on display at Brighton’s Madeira Drive from 2pm.  Entry into the viewing area is £5 (including a programme) for adults, children are free.

Vehicles will be passing through the Brighton area from approximately 9am.  NB They will be using the bus lane route though the town centre, by kind permission of BHCC.

Some have come from Cornwall and Scotland this year;  one 1970s lorry is coming over from Germany!
